Dr. Lassina Zerbo
Energy Advisor to the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RAEB
Dr Lassina Zerbo is the Energy Advisor to the President of Rwanda and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rwanda Atomic Energy Board.
He is an internationally recognized geophysicist and diplomat with extensive experience in nuclear non-proliferation and global security. Dr. Zerbo previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) from 2013 to 2021, where he played a key role in advancing the global ban on nuclear testing and strengthening international monitoring systems.
Dr. Zerbo holds a PhD in Geophysics and has specialized expertise in seismology and nuclear test monitoring. Over the course of his career, he has worked with several international scientific and policy institutions, contributing to research and global security initiatives. Before joining the CTBTO, he held various technical and leadership roles within the organization, as well as working in the private sector in geophysical research.
He is widely respected for his leadership in science diplomacy, his contributions to nuclear disarmament, and his efforts to promote the peaceful use of nuclear technology, particularly in Africa.
